President Obama Embraces Openness On Day One

U.S. President Barack Obama signed an executive order and two presidential memoranda declaring the beginning of a "New Era of Openness" The FOIA Memorandum creates a presumption of disclosure for government records while The Memorandum on Transparency and Open Government requires the development of an Open Government Directive within 120 days. Obama also issued an Executive Order reversing changes made by President George W. Bush to the Presidential Records Act.
