Colombian president signs access to information law

President Manuel of Santos approved and signed into law the Ley de transperencia y del derecho de acceso a la informacion publica (Law on Transparency and the Right to Access Public Information) on March 6, 2014. The law had been reviewed by the Colombian Constitutional Court and made available for the president's signature in May of 2013.

The law comes into effect six months after signature for all national agencies, and within a year for local governments.
