  • Article 19, Tathya Adhikarer Gaan. (Bangladesh, 2012) A song about the right to information laws in Bangladesh, celebrating the improvements the laws have created and including instructions on how to utilize the access laws in the country. [5:05]

  • Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative, The Writing on the Wall: RTI Comes to Malav. (India, 2013). A short film about how the Indian state of Gujarat, the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative and its partner, Nagrik Adhikar Kendra (Citizens' Rights Centre) worked with local public authorities to transform a rural town into a model for the proactive disclosure of information. [18:35]
  • Globe TV, A play on the Right to Information Act. (India, 2011) A reenacted story of a young man who uses the Right to Information Act to combat corruption at the local ration supply store in his rural town. The film gives a fairly detailed explanation of how to file an RTI application, including a letter template. [8:06]
  • KABIR, Right to Information (India, 2007). Short documentary showing the successful use of India's RTI Act in Aligarh Muslim University by both faculty and students, and the positive impact it has had on the university's culture and individual members. [5:14]
  • Open Society Foundations, Making the Right to Information a Reality. (India, 2013) In the first three years after India passed its 2005 Right to Information Act, there were over two million requests. In this brief documentary, Shailesh Gandhi, a Central Information Commissioner in New Delhi, tells the story of how he set out to create a new approach to keep cases moving. [8:01]
  • Satark Nagrik Sangathan (SNS), Campaign on Councillor Development Funds (India, 2010). Clip from SNS' TV show on the Right to Information Law in India, including interviews with various people in poor neighborhoods who successfully requested information from their representatives to address their needs.   • Satark Nagrik Sangathan, Power of the Right to Information Act (RTI Act). (India) Documents how people in India used the RTI Act to ensure accountability in the functioning of the public distribution system (PDS). By accessing the records of their ration shops, they were able to hold a public hearing to publicly discuss the corruption and pilferage that the records showed. (Part 2) [9:37]
  • Tifa Foundation, Knock, Knock Jakarta (Indonesia, 2011). A documentary exploring the importance of RTI legislation in Indonesia, and how it was used by residents of various low-income neighborhoods to obtain information on public projects and public services that influenced their lives.   • World Bank Institute (WBI), Making FOI Work for Citizens in Bangladesh (Bangladesh, 2011).  Describes three initiatives led by partners of WBI's Access to Information Program where grassroots groups, journalists, and youth groups in Bangladesh benefited from RTI training to advance their causes.   • Access to Information Programme, Right to Know Day. (Bulgaria, 2009) This 30-minute documentary in 2 parts, filmed in Bulgarian with English subtitles, celebrates the history and accomplishments of the Access to Information Programme and, in particular, of the creation and observance of International Right to Know Day on September 28th.   • New Zealand Television, Recordings of a discussion about the operation of the Official Information Act. (New Zealand, 2009) Questions and answers with a respected investigative journalist, a reporter on a daily newspaper, and the general secretary of the Civil Servants' Trade Union. The recording starts with a creative short video to raise the awareness about the Act among the public. [17:38]
  • Scottish Information Commissioner, FOI and the Scottish Rural Schools Network. (Scotland) Brief film discussing the achievements made by a network of communities across Scotland that used FOI requests to fight local school closures. [2:37]
  • UK Information Commissioner's Office, Tick Tock (UK, 2010). An entertaining training video for public officials explaining the requirements of responding to requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations, as well as the according responsibilities and exemptions.   • UK Information Commissioner's Office, Transparency: Seeing It Through (UK, 2011). On International Right to Know Day, the Information Commissioner gave a speech on his office's philosophy of public information and the status of the rights to information and privacy in today's UK. [17:20]
